OUR DRIVERS

GENUINE SCOTTISH HOSPITALITY & STORYTELLING

DFH Scotland’s journeys are brought to life by some of the country’s most passionate locals and natural-born storytellers. Our driver-guides go far beyond traditional chauffeuring; they breathe life into Scotland’s winding roads and ancient history, and leave each guest feeling truly connected to Scotland.

Each member of our team was born and raised in Scotland, having spent a lifetime exploring the landscapes, heritage, culture and hidden corners that make their homeland so extraordinary. As their guest, you will experience the invaluable benefit of these personal connections firsthand, gaining the deep insights and "secret" recommendations that travelers often miss without a local’s perspective.

Hospitality is woven into the Scottish soul. We are a proud nation, and sharing our culture is a passion we embrace wholeheartedly. Our drivers provide a warm welcome and a steady guiding hand, greeting every guest with genuine enthusiasm and Caledonian spirit that makes visitors feel instantly at home.

DAVID

I was born and brought up in Glasgow and Scotland has always been where I am most comfortable. Golf has been a lifelong passion and it was almost inevitable that my business life would point me towards sport and in the eighties I started a golf distribution company.

Travelling around the country was part and parcel of the job and I have therefore gained an “In Depth” knowledge of not only its world famous golf courses but I also became more and more interested in the country’s history. Edinburgh is of course fascinating with its “Old” and “New Towns" and Glasgow, the 2nd city of the Empire has its great history of shipbuilding and is well worthy of a visit. But, heading into the highlands and islands always gives you a sense of anticipation. Maybe because it’s a look into the past. Whether it’s the drive through Glencoe and remembering its infamous massacre or crossing the bridge to the Isle of Skye there is something special about this vast underpopulated land.

Scotland is of course also well known for its whisky and there are some 120 distilleries and, as  a bit of a collector I have visited many of these from the Lowland malts to the Islands and Speyside the latter of which has over 50 distilleries on its own.

Whether your interest is in golf, whisky or history I would like to think that our guests will get a holiday with memories to cherish and maybe an urge to return to our small but beautiful country.

I was born in the historic town of Dunfermline and raised in Glasgow, and for the past four years I’ve had the privilege of showing guests around Scotland, sharing not only the famous sights but also the hidden gems and lesser-known places that many visitors would otherwise miss.

After graduating from the University of Aberdeen in 2003, I spent a number of years living in both London and California. While I loved the experience of living abroad, Scotland was always home, and eventually I decided to return and, alongside my dad David, bring our vision of luxury, authentic Scottish touring to life, creating experiences that showcase the very best of our country, both on and off the beaten path.

I’ve enjoyed golf since I was eight years old, and over the years I’ve also developed a real passion for whisky, Scottish history and the outdoors. These days, alongside spending time with my family, I enjoy exploring the Highlands, scaling Munros and taking on challenges such as the famous West Highland Way.

What I enjoy most about guiding is sharing Scotland through stories and local knowledge, bringing the history, legends and landscapes to life as we travel. For me, it’s not just about seeing Scotland, it’s about experiencing the character, culture and spirit of the country along the way.

WILLIAM

I was born in Wick, in the far north of Scotland, and now call the beautiful Borders town of Kelso home. For more than 15 years I’ve been working as a tour driver and guide across Scotland, something that has given me the opportunity to share the country I love with visitors from all over the world.

Scotland’s history has always been deeply personal to me, with my family heritage tracing directly back to the historic Drummond family, one of Scotland’s most famous noble families, closely connected to the stunning Drummond Castle and its world-renowned gardens. Growing up with that connection sparked a lifelong passion for Scottish history, clans, castles and the stories that have shaped the country over centuries.

Over the years I’ve developed a deep knowledge of Scotland’s landscapes, culture and hidden corners, from the rugged Highlands and remote coastal routes to the quieter villages and scenic roads that many visitors never experience. I’ve always been an outdoorsman at heart and spend much of my free time exploring Scotland’s countryside, discovering new places off the beaten track.

What I enjoy most about touring is bringing Scotland to life through stories, local knowledge and genuine Scottish hospitality. Whether travelling through dramatic Highland scenery, exploring ancient castles or stopping in small local villages, I love helping guests experience the real character of Scotland, not just as visitors, but as if they’re travelling with an old friend who knows the country inside and out.

I was born and raised in Glenelg on Scotland’s beautiful west coast, a place that gave me a deep connection to the Highlands, the sea and the history that runs through every glen and village in this part of the country. After spending more than 25 years serving Scotland as a Detective Chief Inspector with Police Scotland, I retired a few years ago and decided it was time to return to my roots and begin a new chapter as a guide.

Guiding has allowed me to combine two things I’ve always loved, meeting people and sharing the Scotland I know so well. Over the years I’ve travelled extensively across the country, and I take great pride in showing guests not just the famous landmarks, but the hidden places, quiet roads and local experiences that many travellers never get the opportunity to discover.

Friends and guests often joke that I’m the “hidden gem master,” and I suppose there’s some truth in that. I love taking people beyond the guidebooks and helping them experience the authentic side of Scotland, whether that’s a tiny coastal village, an isolated Highland viewpoint, a forgotten historical site or a local story passed down through generations.
